The job
As a Linux System Administrator in Amsterdam you will perform system administration tasks at an expert level to assist or resolve customer support needs. In this position you will be the final escalation point for the majority of our customer support requests.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to absorb and comprehend company-wide interdepartmental escalations and delegation procedures, allowing for the proper transference of various internal/customer-related services and issues.
- Interact heavily with customers in both verbal (telephone) and written (ticket/chat) methods of communication.
- Receive escalations from the tier 1 team and own until resolution.
- Assist and educate customers on basic to intermediate use of products or services.
- Occasionally may be required to provide training to tier 1 and tier 2 teams.
- Escalate technical issues to various internal teams as required.
- Work directly with vendors.
- Able to work with executives and highly technical teams of our VIP customers.

Experis is looking for 12 Linux System Administrators in Amsterdam who do have great technical (Linux) knowledge. You will start working in a team of approximately 20 professionals who are providing support for the cloud infrastructure as a service for a growing number of data centers and network points around the world. You will be providing support for all types of customers ranging from Web start-ups till large global enterprises. The current IT team includes several positions like: Customer Support Technicians, Linux System Administrators (Managed Hosting), MySQL DBA’s, SQL DBA’s, Customer Support Managers and Technical Account Managers. The company will provide you with possibilities to develop yourself to another position within the IT team.
Relocate to Amsterdam (The Netherlands)
This position is open to candidates with a European citizenship. The office is based in Amsterdam which made it to the top 20 of the 100 best cities in the world to live in. Amsterdam itself has a population of around 800,000 people and is home to thousands of expats and international workers. We understand moving to a different country can be a challenge, but don’t worry we will help you as much as we can with IND procedures, 30% ruling and basic information about all the things you have to arrange before you can start working in The Netherlands.
What are we expecting from you?
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Excellent customer service, analytical and interpersonal relationship skills
- Advanced to expert system administrator skillset and at least 3 years experience working with one or more of the following operating systems:
- FreeBSD
- Linux
- Advanced to expert knowledge of storage concepts, filesystems, backup types and implementation and network troubleshooting
- Ability to function as a team member
- Work with management to improve productivity, policy and other high level functions of the group
- You must have flexible 24/7 shift availability, including nights, weekends and holidays. Shifts include: Day Shift, Evening Shift, and Night Shift.
Nice to have
- Advanced to expert system administrator skillset with Windows Server (2003 or newer)
- Good verbal and written communication skills in any other language than English preferably one of the following: French, German, Italian
