As Compliance Officer you’ll work with the Conduct Advisory, Regulatory Affairs and Financial Crime teams, assisting and advising senior management on the identification and management compliance, conduct and regulatory risks. You’ll act as a trusted adviser, helping the business understand and take ownership of their regulatory and conduct risk so that they are appropriately identified, assessed and mitigated.


Other key aspects of your role will include:



  • Providing challenge, oversight and technical advice on compliance with all relevant local legislation, regulation and policy; independently overseeing risk management and controls, and challenging their effectiveness;

  • Being a crucial source of up to date guidance on existing standards and regulations, and advising on upstream changes to allow policy and procedural changes to be implemented in good time;

  • Developing and maintaining appropriate risk and control frameworks;

  • Recording and escalating any divergences in standards, gaining approval from the relevant risk committee;

  • Taking responsibility for ensuring the timely submission of reports to the AFM and DNB in the Netherlands;

  • Ensuring that compliance MI is collated and submitted accurately and on time.

NatWest Markets is the investment-banking arm of RBS. NatWest Markets NV will be the principal entity for trades with customers in the European Economic Area post Brexit, providing debt financing, lending, risk management and trading solutions products and services to financial institutions and large corporate customers.

We’re looking for someone with a detailed understanding of the relevant conduct and financial crime regulations in the Netherlands, and other relevant jurisdictions under the NatWest Markets NV umbrella. You’ll have a background in compliance, financial crime, legal, risk, audit or similar in a financial services or regulatory environment, ideally in investment banking. We’ll expect a postgraduate qualification to at least masters level, and a Dutch Financial Law degree would be welcome. Fluent English is essential, Dutch is desirable.


We’ll also expect:



  • Knowledge of aspects of MiFID II, MAR, EMIR and other relevant financial legislation, and experience of their application;

  • A clear interest in banking and the financial markets;

  • Strong organisation skills and self motivation;

  • A team focused approach with strong interpersonal skills, able to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels of a complex organisation.
