We are looking for an ambitious senior engineer (Application Software) with profound automotive knowledge. Together with the Control System Architect, Hardware/Base Software Engineer and the Product Owner you’ll work on our next generation instrument cluster and in-vehicle infotainment system. These vehicle controllers will be used for DAF and all other Paccar brands (Kenworth/Peterbilt) world-wide.


As Senior Engineer, you are responsible for the:



  • Definition and management of application software requirements throughout the development cycle and after release to production (SOP);

  • Coordination of validation activities, support in defect analysis and resolution planning with appropriate stakeholders;

  • Creation of development deliverables according DAF Product Creation Process (PCP);

  • Alignment with all internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Hardware/Base Software Team, Marketing, After Sales, Manufacturing , Purchasing and Supplier);

  • Preparation of system documentation for release to Manufacturing and After Sales.

DAF Trucks N.V. in Eindhoven is part of the PACCAR Inc., which is one of the biggest global players in the heavy-duty truck industry. The known truck brands of PACCAR are Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF. Within PACCAR Inc.


The department Embedded Engineering is responsible for the development of electronic vehicle systems. The foundations of these systems (hardware and base software) are developed together with several automotive suppliers. The appropriate application software is defined and implemented by a dedicated software team within Embedded Engineering.

For our client DAF Trucks we are looking for a Senior Engineer application software with 5+ years of experience.


  • Bachelor/Master in Control Theory, Information Technology/Embedded Software, Automotive Engineering or equivalent;

  • 5+ years of experience in Embedded Systems development and knowledge of:


    1. Functionalities within Instrument Cluster/In-Vehicle Infotainment domain

    2. HMI/Application software development for infotainment platforms

    3. In-vehicle communication (CAN/LIN) and Diagnostics (UDS)

    4. Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus

    5. Process supporting tools for defect management, calibration and programming

    6. Linux/Android/Genivi is a plus

    7. Automotive safety and standards like ISO 26262, AutoSAR and SPICE is a plus

    8. Process supporting tools for defect management, calibration and programming

  • Ability to collaborate across different groups having varying levels of expertise and skill;

  • Strong interpersonal skills, especially listening and synthesizing;

  • Analytical skills and the ability to abstract from the current situation;

  • You are able to explain complex technical information clearly and succinctly;

  • Fluent English language required, Dutch verbal and written preferred;

  • In this role you’ll be reporting to the supervisor of the Application Software team and the responsible Product Owner.
