Job description

As a Technical Superintendent you will work with the project team out of the head office in Papendrecht or from the project site to make the necessary preparations of vessel/equipment for a project. During the execution phase you as a Technical Superintendent will be responsible for supervising and managing the vessel/equipment modifications and ensuring that high-quality work is delivered on time.

This means that your responsibilities as a Technical Superintendent will include the following:

  • You will be supporting the project team to make the necessary preparations for a vessel (deck-layout) modification, or vessel outfitting.
  • You are responsible to identify project specific requirements and translate it into detailed planning and working methods so that the project can be realized efficiently and effectively. All in accordance with the Boskalis Management System and in line with the contractual agreements (safety, quality, planning, and budget);
  • During preparations you will coordinate a multidisciplinary team, involving engineering, procurement, logistics, and operational personnel;
  • Consulting with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the right working methods, employees and equipment are available when needed, and being responsible to ensure effective communication between team members;
  • During the execution phase you will be responsible for supervising and managing the (project) mobilisation works and ensuring that high-quality work is delivered on time;
  • Responsible for establishing the (project) vessel mobilisation budget, requesting the budget approval, its subsequent costing control, and correct cost allocation;
  • Provide leadership towards achieving the “No Incident, No Accident” objectives of our company and comply with all Boskalis NINA and SHE-Q policies;
  • Being responsible for carrying out projects within the most efficient, safe and environmental way and responsible of day to day supervision during execution of vessel mobilisation, or equipment installation;
  • Responsible of maintain clear, and sufficient, communication, and provide daily, weekly, and monthly report (operational and financial) during the full vessel/equipment mobilisation project;
  • Being responsible for the correct reporting on maintenance, modifications and repairs and ensuring technical files are updated regularly according classification, and project requirements. Implementing actions from the lessons learned;
  • Arranging surveys with warranty surveyor, or classification authorities, to ensure full compliance of vessel/equipment certification according to project specific requirements and class requirements.

Job requirements

In order to be able to fulfill the position of Technical Superintendent you need:

  • At least a higher professional degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture of Maritime Engineering;
  • 5 years of experience;
  • Experience with contract management and technical knowledge and experience on Offshore;
  • To follow the instructions and execute the work method by adhering to the relevant QHSE procedures as described;
  • Experience with ICT office applications and ERP;
  • A good command in English;
  • Willing to spend occasionally a few weeks at various projects;
  • To be enthusiastic, flexible, initiative and pro-active.
